The Eton Walkway is progressing well thanks to the ongoing vision of Eton Community Association led by their Chairman Ros Rivaz. All 18 markers were installed earlier in the year and a full colour booklet produced which is proving particularly popular.
Earlier this month the interpretive panel was made too, which is due to be installed soon, at the foot of the Bridge, the gateway into the town.
All this activity got the attention of Gina Bradbury, the Director of The Outdoor Guide, who offered to make a promotional video for the new Walkway, and we are delighted by what she has produced (see below).
Plans are underway for The Eton Walkway to be formally launched in the near future but it is already fully open and attracting plenty of visitors.
Digital counters, installed on the bridge and half way downtime High Street, are helpfully giving an insight into the numbers of visitors it is already attracting. So far this year, more than 1.5million have crossed the Bridge with some weekends twice as busy as weekdays.
Eton Town Council and The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead are committed to monitoring the numbers over the next 5 years together with Eton Community Association. The feedback the Trust has received already has been very complementary with many particularly enjoying how easy it is to access and complete within a couple of hours. The drone footage gives a great tease to that too. Thanks Gina!
